Winnig bebut for Andrea Caldarelli in GT Masters


Andrea Caldarelli won his maiden GT Masters race. The Italian, Factory Driver for Lamborghini Squadra Corse, gain race 2 victory and jumped at the drivers’ standings top thanks to 25 points. Alongside Mirko Bortolotti, Andrea drove during Sunday qualifying, when he set 2nd fastest lap time, starting the race from the front line. After the pit-stop, car #63 by ORANGE1 by GRT Grasser, get out of the driver change behind twin Huracan, and after some rubbing, they took the lead. In the final laps, a safety-car came in to recover a Mercedes involved in a crash. Champioship leading could have been bigger, as Caldarelli-Bortolotti crossed finish line in second position race-1, but all the GRT’s were disqualified due a technical infringement, which didn’t blear the performance, has shown on Sunday.

“Finishing the weekend with a win is fantastic. Christian Engelhart and I refrained from attacking each other so that we could distance ourselves from the field. Shortly after the pit stop, Mirko then took the lead. The strategy worked brilliantly. The track here is not an easy one, and you have to watch out for your tyres. In that respect, we were successful”.
