Andrea Caldarelli fourth in Suzuka’s 1000Km

Fourth place for Andrea Caldarelli in Suzuka’s 1000Km, which hosted fifth 2016 SUPER GT round. During qualifying Kazuya Oshima drove the LEXUS TEAM LE MANS WAKO’S to 10th place, while all the LEXUS 4CR RC F were struggling on Saturday. From Sunday warm-up, Andrea found a good set-up under the rain, and set the fastest time. As usual, Caldarelli drove the car at the start, with slippery and wet track making some good overtakes also with slick tyres in the middle of the race. During 4th hour he and Oshima were fighting for the podium, but a long safety-car period prevented them to celebrate with a medal.

“After all, a fourth place is a good result. It has been a thoug race, and looking from where we started on Saturday morning, I’m pretty happy. We gain some points for the championship, and we’re fourth in the overall, getting closer to the lead. We hadn’t the best pace in the field, but the team made a great strategy which allowed us to drive for a triple stint. In the middle of the race we’re strong and on the podium, without safety-car we could keep that position, but not let’s get focused on Thailand”.
