Andrea Caldarelli from 15th to 5th in Fuji

Second SUPER GT round in Fuji, held during Golden Week in Japan, saw Andrea Caldarelli recover from 15th starting position until 5th place under the chequered flag in front of more than 85.000 spectators attending the race. Andrea set 9th fastest lap time during the qualifying, but due track-limits his time has been deleted, so the LEXUS TEAM LEMANS WAKO’S had to start from the back of the grid. Andrea’s teammate Kazuya Oshima drove the car at the start, gaining positions until 12th place, when at the pit-stop Caldarelli took the seat. After the second fastest time set in the warm-up session, Andrea entered easily the Top-10, overtaking the major opponents and fighting for sixth place on lap 78th, when the team called him in the pit-lane for another driver change. The WAKO’s 4CR RC F and Oshima cut the finish-line in 5th position.

“Starting the race from P15 and finishing in P5 – I have to say it’s Good. We improve the car from yesterday, and I was sure we could have fight for some valuable points. We weren’t far from the podium, which is for sure the target for the next race. Before the next round, let’s make sure these issues are solved after some more careful discussions with my team. Again, I thank the many fans who were here for us today! Thank you very much!”.
