Andrea Caldarelli experiences frustrating Autopolis weekend

The sixth and penultimate round of the 2015 SUPER GT championship left Andrea Caldarelli with a bitter taste in his mouth. Despite the great pace showed in practice, the Italian was massively hit by traffic during qualifying at Autopolis, one of the tightest venue on the schedule, and was forced to start from the 15th and last position on the grid.

The 25-year-old racer didnít back down though, as he drove the KeePer Team Tomís LEXUS RC-F at the start. With a consistent and aggressive approach, Andrea recovered up to the 6th place, but tire management woes jeopardized the stint driven by team-mate Ryo Hirakawa so the Italian-Japanese pairing had to settle for the 12th position at the end.

ďConsidering how we started the season, we are suffering more than we had anticipated in the final part of the year. Unfortunately, there are situations where you canít control external factors and this can make a big difference in motorsport. Our weekend started in a tough fashion as we missed the right moment to exit from the pits in qualifying, and with just one lap available to take the best out of our tires, we missed our goal. During the race, I had a good pace in my stint but Ryo was much less lucky. We hope to be able to reverse our fortunes and end up on a positive note in the final round, scheduled in two weeks at MotegiĒ.
