Andrea Caldarelli scores first pole of 2015 SUPERFORMULA season

Andrea Caldarelli took a sensational pole position in the third round of the 2015 SUPERFORMULA season held at Fuji. Just like happened one year ago, the 25-year-old Italian topped the charts in qualifying by leading all the the segments and cruising to the pole in pouring rain with a best laptime of 1'40"868. On Race Day, Andrea was involved in a first-corner contact that caused his front wing to break. As a consequence, he was forced to an additional pit-stop. In a great comeback, Caldarelli recovered up to the 9th place which gave him his second straight points finish.

Andrea Caldarelli
"I really find myself well-suited at Fuji and I want to thank Impul and Toyota for handing me such a competitive package. The pole position has been an huge result, and victory would have been in our frame as confirmed by my team-mate De Oliveira taking the win. I'm delighted that the team eventually managed to score although I would have loved to do it myself! Unfortunately, a contact with Kobayashi at the first corner broke my front wing and I was forced to make an unscheduled stop. Despite the fact that it was a fun and exciting recovery, it didn't end up as I expected".
